From the ED 2.4.16

Dear Colleagues,

Last month I reminded you that MISBO has been progressing on our re-branding project. You are going to see things happening very soon. Our new logo, and in fact an entirely new look, is complete and you will begin to see this on our website and our social media channels by mid-February. In fact, we will be running a contest via social media with winners receiving a $100 discount towards our 2016 Fall Conference – Designing Intelligent Schools – in Hilton Head, SC. Connect with MISBO on LinkedIn and Twitter for details and get ready to win!

Most importantly, we have restated our mission and that will also be unveiled mid-February. The core values and the primary purpose of MISBO remain the same; we are just stating this in a new way that we hope is very clear and concise.

This will be followed by an updated mobile app, a new look to our event materials, and so much more. This is a big undertaking and while we will start very soon, it may take up to six months or so to ensure that everything is switched to the new MISBO. Outside of the new look, other changes you will see immediately are some name changes. Our Electronic Resources program is now known as our Digital Educational Resources program. Our member newsletters are also being renamed to The Pulse for our professional development focus and The Source for all our vendor news and updates. Also, with clarity as the goal, we have modified (and shortened) some titles for MISBO staff.

This is a very exciting time for MISBO. Please know that the ultimate goal is to ensure that everyone at our current schools, and those at schools who may become members, fully understand the “why” of MISBO. As a board and staff we began exploring the “why” of MISBO some time ago using these thoughts from Simon Sinek to guide us. MISBO is both different than it was years ago, but also very much the same. The changes and the outcome of the re-branding project are meant to ensure that everyone understands the “why” of MISBO.

As you saw in the last newsletter, registration is now open for the 2016 FISBO/MISBO Business Officer Conference to be hosted by Miami Country Day School on April 24-26, 2016. The full schedule, speakers, hotel information, and registration can be found here. Please take a look at some of the exceptional speakers and sessions we have lined up for this program.

This year, our 2016 Intensive in June is focused on the entire business office team! MISBO’s Not-Just-the Business Officer Intensive will be held June 12-14, 2016 at Woodward Academy, Atlanta, GA. More information and registration can be found here. We believe that this event is a first for independent school business office teams and we are confident that anyone working in a business office at an independent school will find great value with this event.

MISBO 40th logoI look forward to seeing so many of you throughout 2016 as MISBO celebrates its 40th Anniversary. Thank you all for your continued support!

Sincerely,
Marc
