Dear Colleagues,

Treasure Hunt

2014 MISBO Annual Conference – Ideas in Motion

I just returned home from Tampa, FL where we hosted the 2014 MISBO Annual Conference – Ideas in Motion. Sunday night began with a great opening reception and Treasure Hunt. You’ll want to talk with your colleagues about what you missed, but here is a picture of some from our winning team!

Monday opened with a session by Dr. Annmarie Neal, author of Leading From The Edge. If you were not able to attend and would like to hear Dr. Neal, check out this video as part of the work she did with Tony Wagner for “Creating Innovators” – http://vimeo.com/34670679. The conference concluded on Tuesday with a talk by a dynamic young innovator profiled in Wagner’s book – Syreeta Gates. This video will provide plenty of insight into her energy and motivation for those not able to attend – http://vimeo.com/34511251. I continue to be inspired by the work of these young people that Wagner profiled in Creating Innovators.

Speaking of disruptive innovation (you need to have seen the first video mentioned above) Michael Horn (of Disrupting Class with Clayton Christensen) has just published a new book – Blended. You can see more here – http://www.christenseninstitute.org/blended/.  I know most of your schools have been considering or have already implemented some form of blended learning. This book should provide some great new insights to help move this forward.

I would like to recognize some of the sponsors that made our conference possible:

GOLDContrax Furnishings and FACTS
SILVERCrescerance, Sage Dining Services, Southstar Energy (GA Natural Gas), and TADS.

Also, thank you to the additional 28 sponsors that supported MISBO for this fantastic event.

Sincerely,
Marc
