From the ED 9.12.13

Dear Colleagues,

Last Sunday I watched a 60 Minutes segment about the new 9-11 Museum which is under construction below Ground Zero – or actually in the heart of Ground Zero. You can watch the segment by clicking here.  Most of us remember where we were that day as we remember where we were for many very tragic days during our lives. I recently had the opportunity to be in NYC and visit the 9-11 Memorial which is above the Museum. The process of building the museum and deciding what to show people and what NOT to show people is quite a story. One interesting comment that stuck with me was that by the time the museum opens next year, the “under 17” population will only look at this event as a history lesson. I am very glad that this museum will be there for these young people to learn about what may have been one of the most tragic days in the history of our country.

I also had the opportunity to visit a number of MISBO member and non-member schools in North Carolina last week. Every time I visit a school I learn more ways that MISBO can help our schools. Thank you to all of you that took time last week to speak with me. One area I know we need to improve is providing information about the MISBO Purchasing Program and the value this program brings to schools.  Most people do not understand the depth and breadth of MISBO’s offerings to our schools.  I encourage you to visit our website and specifically the vendor contract pages – I am certain you will find vendors you are using now, but may not be receiving the discounts provided as a MISBO member school. You may also find new vendors that will help your school.  Also, we just introduced a new page to the MISBO Blog for Vendor News (see the tabs at the top of this page) to provide more vendor information and updates. This will be the place to find the most up to date news about our vendors.  Please visit often!

Electronic newsletters, blogs, twitter, email messages, and our list servs are the tools that MISBO uses to communicate with you.  As we continually evaluate our methods, please let me know if these are working for you.  Better yet, please participate in the quick poll below and let us know your preferred method(s) of communication.
